While I really love Alias and Lost, both by JJ Abrams, Cloverfield left me gasping for air and water. This isn’t a complement either, while it has the mysterious(where the hell did the monster came from) and thrilling pace, we were completely turned off by the "shaky camera."
The story was about a monster/alien wrecking mayhem and destruction to the very disaster magnet place:New York, through the handy cam used by this small group. It was to have "Blair Witch Project" style of camera shots, unfortunately my brother and I felt we were on a creeky boat sailing on a very stormy seas. It came to a point that we were really wishing for the guy(Hud) handling to camera, to die already. Whatever the movie should’ve stood for(FX, pace, thrill), were left unappreciated because of a very loathsome shaky camera shots.
Should you really want to watch the movie, make sure you have a sickness pill and a barf bag.
